MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT release "GAY, BLACK AND MARRIED" (Rykodisc)
October 25, 2005 This album was written nearly a decade ago when the band had a week off during a European tour. While drinking in a bar one night, the boys met kindred spirits Skye d'Angelo and Enzo Santiago. After some conversations over the generic sound pulsating throughout the Euro clubs at the time, the new friends set off to Enzo's home studio in Portiers to do a little "creative jamming". Discovering a mutual love for late 70's disco music, they began writing what was to be TKK's homage to that early, decadent dance scene era. They loaded up Enzo's 8-track recorder with funky bass lines, wah-wah guitars, pulsating synthesizers, and robotic vocals. But due to a busy touring schedule and various other record label obligations, the album was set on the shelf and nearly forgotten – until now! This past summer the band resurrected the project, adding fresh vocals and some new grooves - giving it that final sparkle and mirror ball magic that all great disco albums were made of. They also included a cover song - a first for the band - 1977's mega hit “Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me” by fellow Chicago artist Peter Brown. With tracks like “Freaky Fever”, “One Nite Stand” and “Euro-Freak Hustle”, the Kult have once again shown the world their versatile ability to switch modes, mix things up and create unique, interesting and not so typical dance music.
