BIOGRAPHY!

15 years have passed since this strange concoction of characters burst onto the indy music scene, turning us on to a unique mixture of electro-glam-disco-industrial-lounge rock - and they’re still going strong! It’s been said that Thrill Kill Kult are to music what “Pulp Fiction” is to film: revolutionary, extraordinary, shocking and unforgettable.

The band formed in 1987, when two Chicago club kids took their vision of a B-movie horror film they were working on, and turned it into one of rocks most outlandish musical acts. Franke Nardiello and Mars Daley took the roles of “Groovie Mann” and “Buzz McCoy”, rounded up some of their night life friends and hit the road! Playing up the B-movie theme, TKK incorporated the use of horror film imagery and bizarre vocal samples in their blend of multi-styled music. They created an over the top stage show complete with performance artists, fire-breathers, and their very own bartender on stage! They also formed their own Russ Meyer-esque back-up group of voluptuous, scantily clad vocalists / dancers known as The Bomb Gang Girlz! The concept landed them a deal with Chicago’s infamous industrial-dance label, Wax Trax! Records. The band recorded 3 albums for the label, I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits, Confessions of a Knife, and Sexplosion!. They also released a string of alternative dance singles, most notably Kooler Than Jesus, The Devil Does Drugs, and ‘Cuz It’s Hot, which featured vocals by the Kult’s close friend, punk-poet diva Lydia Lunch.

The radio success of the song “Sex On Wheelz” from the Sexplosion! lp gained the band major label attention, and in 1992 TKK signed to a fledgling Interscope Records. Along with recorded two more albums, (1993’s 13 Above the Night and Hit & Run Holiday in 1995), they oddly enough found themselves back in the world of film, writing material for such movies as animator Ralph Bakshi’s “Cool World”, Paul Verhoeven's naughty “Showgirls” and the cult classic “The Crow”, where the band also made their silver screen debut!

After much extensive touring throughout the US and Europe, sharing stages with the likes of Siouxsie And The Banshees, Marilyn Manson and the Lords Of Acid, the band hit the studio once again in 1997 and produced A Crime for all Seasons. Unfortunately they quickly found themselves at odds with their new record label Red Ant, and soon parted ways. In 1998 the band teamed with Ryko Disc to reissue the back catalog.

Now Thrill Kill had a big decision to make. What to do with the new material? Answer: Start their own label! Thus the birth of... SLEAZEBOX RECORDS
